Each registered domain name has a minimum of two Name Server records that show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain address to the servers of a specific hosting company. This way, you have both your site and your e-mails managed by the exact same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there is a variety of other records, for example A and MX. The first one reveals which server manages the website for a given domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter reveals which server manages the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For example, when you enter a domain name in your Internet browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain uses and from there you may be forwarded to the servers of another company if you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain address. Having separate records for the site and the e-mails means you could have your website and your emails with 2 different companies if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Web Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, that comes with each and every Linux shared web hosting package which we provide, will permit you to view, change and create A and MX records for any domain name or subdomain inside your account. Through the DNS Records section, you will be able to see a list of all hosts within the account from a to z with their related records, so any update will not take you more than a couple of clicks. Setting up new records is just as easy if, for example, you want to use the e-mail services of another provider and they ask you to create more MX records than the default two. You can also set the priority for every MX record by setting different latency. Quite simply, when your e-mails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it'll contact the next one. Through our state-of-the-art tool, you'll be able to handle the records of your domain names and subdomains effortlessly even though you may have no prior experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Accessing and modifying the A or MX records for each of your domains or subdomains is very easy if you get a semi-dedicated server plan from our company. The accounts are handled by using our in-house built Hepsia CP, which includes a section committed to the DNS records of your domain addresses. The latter will be listed alphabetically and you could click on every one of them to see both the A and the MX records. Changing any record is as easy as entering the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even when you have never dealt with such matters before, you simply won't encounter any problems if you wish to move your site or e-mails to another service provider while keeping the second service with our company. When needed, you can also set up additional MX records and set a certain priority depending on the instructions of the new provider.
