An access log is a detailed list of all the files that were accessed by the visitors of a given website. Any file which was requested for some reason will be listed, so if you have one webpage with three embedded images, one video and one embedded text file, as an example, the access log will contain a total of 6 entries - one for each of the 6 files which were accessed when the visitor opened the page. A log typically contains the file name and path, the date, plus the visitor’s OS, worldwide web browser and IP address. Occasionally you could also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your website. The information an access log file provides is in human-readable plain text format. It could be processed by special software on a personal computer and used to prepare reports on the overall performance of a website, besides the web stats which your server may have generated.

Access Log Manager in Shared Web Hosting

Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel features a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are among them. As soon as you sign in to your shared web hosting account and visit this section, you'll find a list of all the domain names and subdomains you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to press a button that will be available next to every domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you will see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your personal computer and view it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantaneously, so if you no longer require one, you can stop it with only a click from the exact same section of the CP. You'll still be able to access the already developed content by simply clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you host your Internet sites within a semi-dedicated server account with our company, you'll have the option to trigger or disable the generation of access logs with just several mouse clicks within your Hepsia hosting CP. You'll find this feature in the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access after you sign in. All it takes for our system to start creating logs is a click on the On button which you will see there. The function can be activated individually for any website no matter if it uses a domain name or a subdomain and you shall find the full list of all the hosts within that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with just a click and you may then view it manually or use some software on your computer. The log generation may be disabled by simply changing the On option to Off within the Logs section of your Control Panel.
